Reiki: Your Shortcut to Inner Calm
That pure bliss feeling after a deep energetic practice—like Yoga Nidra or Theta Healing—is pure magic. Ever since I began receiving energy healing, I was curious about learning a technique myself. So when my dear friend Antia mentioned a Reiki training happening at my beloved Yoga Barn in Ubud, right around the time I was planning my Bali visit, I knew it was meant to be.
They say when the student is ready, the master appears. And my master’s name is Punnu Wasu, a revered Reiki and Meditation Master who guided my Usui Reiki Master training. And so, the magical unfolding began.

What is Reiki?
Reiki is an ancient Japanese energy healing modality. The name literally translates to "Universal Life Force Energy" (Rei meaning Spiritual Wisdom/Universal, and Ki meaning Life Force Energy).
Think of it as an energetic cleanse that realigns the flow of energy in your body. It operates on a holistic mode, supporting healing on physical, energetic, emotional, and spiritual levels, promoting balance throughout the entire system and strengthening your body’s own self-healing potential.
This is done through the gentle transfer of positive life-force energy, usually via light touch through the hands. The energy flows exactly where it is needed most, going to the root cause to address the entire wellbeing of the person.
During a Reiki session, you will likely lie down and simply relax. You might experience a calming sensation of warmth or gentle tingling throughout your body. The treatment is non-invasive and deeply peaceful. Many find that it feels like a weight has lifted, leaving you lighter and completely reset, ready to navigate the world with greater clarity.

This I can definitely attest to! While completing my Master training, I was dealing with two unfortunately broken ribs from a severe bronchitis. The only moments when the pain was truly bearable were when I was either giving or receiving Reiki. It accelerates the body’s self-healing ability and supports the immune system.
