A Curated Guide to Conscious Living by a true Madrileña

A bit of history…

Many people don't know this, but at 28, I traded my routine for a backpack and set off to travel the world. That journey didn't just change my perspective; it led me to become a chef.

I’ve been curating travel guides since my school days. Now, I’ve evolved that hobby into a specialized resource for the conscious traveler. Whether I’m in London, Lisbon, or home in Madrid, I refuse to compromise on my wellbeing. These guides are my personal "black book" of restaurants with honest ingredients, mindful yoga studios, low-tox beauty havens, and soulful shops for kids.

Madrid: A Work in Progress, A Soul in Bloom.

As a Madrileña who has lived in health-forward cities like London, I spent years searching for the "wellbeing" heart of my own city. While Spain joined the wellness movement a little later, it is now speeding up beautifully. Madrid is currently a playground of new, conscious openings. These are my top picks—the ones that actually hit the mark for a gluten-free chef.

Eat & Drink

Healthy eateries are sprouting up everywhere, but for a gluten-free chef, "healthy" isn't always "tasty." These gems are the exceptions.

Plenti

A cozy secret tucked away near Retiro Park. It feels like a home away from home. I love it for a guilt-free breakfast with gluten-free bread (a rarity in Madrid!). Their Shakshuka is the perfect fuel before a bike ride through the park.

Honest Greens

Yes, it’s a franchise, but their consistency is why I trust them. It’s my go-to for a fast, guaranteed "clean" meal. I highly recommend the garden bowls, the falafel with tahini, and—don’t skip this—their chocolate cookies.

Hermanas Arce

Located in my favorite neighborhood, Salesas. It’s the definition of "good vibes": a small, honest menu with fresh produce. While the GF options are curated, they never fail to impress. Pro tip: Arrive early; the secret is out and it fills up fast.

Baba

Escape the city bustle through an old patio into this hidden café. Their Turkish eggs with gluten-free bread paired with a refreshing mint lemonade is the ultimate brunch ritual. (Brunch served until 1 PM).

Naji Specialty Coffee

My "Coffee Mecca." If you haven't tried Naji’s pistachio latte, you haven't lived. It’s the real deal—inspired by Naji, the owner’s Iraqi roots—not a pale imitation. He brings specialty coffees inspired from all around the world. It’s my haven for replenishing good vibes. Note: They offer fresh juices and healthy toasts, though GF bread and pastries aren't on the menu yet.

Herbolario Navarro

My favorite one-stop-shop. From loofah sponges and toxin-free shampoos to oracles, sage, and fresh organic produce—they stock everything your conscious home needs.

Salud Mediterránea

A beautiful shop with a familiar, neighborhood feel. Their assistants are experts at recommending supplements, Bach flowers, and low-tox beauty brands.

González González

This is like walking into Midnight in Paris, but in Justicia. It’s a soothing, traditional shop where I restock my Aleppo soap and traditional low-tox cleaning essentials. A truly grounding experience.

La Marca Well

Part shop, part deli in the heart of Justicia. I come here specifically to browse their wellness and cooking books and Anima Mundi supplements (the Blue Lotus is a favorite).

Zentro Urban Yoga

A stunning studio with incredible energy. This was my sanctuary during pregnancy- I even attended a class past my due date! The vibes are unmatched.

Tucked away in Barrio de Salamanca. Highly recommended by the "yoga-certified" inner circle for those seeking a focused, soulful flow.

A brand-new sanctuary on one of Madrid's prettiest streets. It’s a light-filled space designed for deep connection—perfect for those who want their practice to feel like a retreat.

Circo Kids

I fell in love at first sight. A conscious shop in Justicia stocking brands like Liewood and costumes so beautiful you'll wish they came in adult sizes.

This is the magic of childhood made tangible. Valeria, the owner, has poured her soul into creating a world of conscious, magical toys that spark true wonder.

My favorite kids bookshop in the city. Every title is mindfully chosen. The owners truly know their craft—it’s the best place for a gift that matters.

Beauty & Spirit

All Yours

Pure bliss. This is my favorite toxin-free beauty destination in Madrid, right in the heart of Barrio Salamanca. They stock the "heavy hitters" like Rahua, Salt & Stone, and Rowse. Get your routine sorted, then head to Akiro Handroll Bar nearby for the perfect afternoon.

Laconicum

Now with a physical home in Salesas! They host some of my preferred clean brands like Ilia and Pai Skincare. While they also carry well-known names like Goop, do note that not all their brands meet the strict "clean" standards of All Yours—so check your labels!

The spot for a toxin-free manicure. Ask specifically for Kure Bazaar polish. (Note: Their top and bottom coats aren't Kure Bazaar, so keep that in mind!). It’s a short walk from Naji Coffee—the perfect pairing.

My "must-stop" for crystals. Lucia is a mineralogist, so she actually knows the science behind the stones. ou can find everything from raw specimens to beautiful pendants and bracelets. No "fakes" here—just powerful, high-quality rocks.
