Everybody has a different hair type and mine is surely the rebel kind. If I had to choose the clean beauty category that I find most challenging, it would certainly be hair products. Furthermore, I am making a conscious effort to gradually become more sustainable and zero waste, so I am also exploring solid versions which can be quite time consuming. More on that to come soon.

Hair

I have tried a myriad of shampoos, conditioners and all types of oils and I am still looking for my soulmate hair products. Suggestions more than welcome...

The issue is that conventional hair products include many toxic foaming agents such as DEA (check my post Toxins in your Cosmetics for more information), which makes finding your perfect natural shampoo quite a quest.

Shampoo

Refreshing shampoo - Brand Australian Tea Tree - Product Deep Cleansing Shampoo. Good refreshing option for tea tree lovers.

Hydrating Shampoo - Brand Jason - Product Natural Biotin - Good hydrating option although not hydrating enough for hair with highlights. This brand has many options and is widely available in health stores, so it is a good place to start.

My favourite Shampoo - Brand Goop - Product Himalayan Salt Scalp Scrub Shampoo. My weekend treat shampoo to feel like I am at a spa at home.

Shampoo range - Brand Urtekram - Product Rosemary Shampoo. I have tried several shampoos of this brand though I haven't quite found the right match. However, these are widely available in health stores so another good option for a swift transition to cleaner beauty.

Solid Shampoo - Brand Banbu - Product Normal to dry hair Shampoo. Great zero waste option and travel friendly.

Conditioner

Conditioners are even trickier than shampoo, still on the quest to find the holy grail, bear with me.

Conditioner - Brand Jason - Product Biotin Conditioner. So far this has been my best match.

Nails

Nail polish is one of the most toxic products in conventional beauty and the one I would suggest changing the earlier the better.

Nail polish - Brand Kure Bazaar. Amazing brand with a wide range of colours, their oils are super hydrating and worth checking.
